Clément Denis investigates the barriers of communication, deploying plural works including mosaic and painting, bringing the art of an artistic practice at the crossroads of human condition. His anthropological investigation results in a series of portraits of individuals that he invites to feel the same state of confusion. In fact, sharing his own experience is a prerequisite to the act of painting.

About the selection
Clément Denis invites us to navigate the intricate dynamics of human connections and disconnections through his captivating characters. His work questions what binds us and what divides us, presenting figures that appear in moments of both conflict and embrace, all while engaging with the complexities of human emotion. Alfredo Romero’s "Vestiges of Our Times" sets a dialogue between social memory and ephemeral architecture, reflecting on the passage of time and the traces of history that shape our present. His work is characterized by a keen interest in translating historical traces into contemporary narratives through innovative archeological techniques that aim to preserve memories of the past. With exhibitions in leading museums and galleries worldwide, Romero’s art reflects a constant creative quest that transcends boundaries and resonates with audiences on multiple levels. Stanley Casselman, as a solo artist, explores the spiritual elements of existence through meticulously layered surfaces. His work emphasizes the transformative power of color and form, reflecting a profound belief in the ability of abstraction to alter perception and consciousness. KACE, a collaboration between Naeem Khan and Stanley Casselman, merges art and fashion through vibrant works like the Jardin de Nuit paintings. These pieces feature sequined flowers against a backdrop of rich pigments, creating an immersive experience that transcends traditional boundaries. Chen Yi Ching invites us to experience the delicate interplay between tradition and contemporary expression through her breathtaking large-scale polyptychs. Drawing from the rich heritage of nihon-ga, her works are a vibrant celebration of nature, where blossoming flowers burst forth in dynamic landscapes. François Weil’s monumental stone sculptures evoke the timeless mysteries of the natural world. His approach respects the raw beauty of stone, elevating each piece to a work of art while leaving the material in its natural state. This philosophy resonates with the ancient menhirs of Carnac, celebrating the power of rough stone and its ability to provoke contemplation about our existence. Karl Lagasse's artistry reflects a bold fusion of contemporary themes and traditional practices, particularly evident in his renowned “One Dollar” sculptures. Celebrated for his innovative approach, Lagasse began his creative journey at a young age, inspired by the dynamic world of graffiti and collages. His work transcends mere aesthetics, inviting viewers to contemplate the value and meaning behind everyday objects. Join us at Art Miami for an opening reception that celebrates this exciting convergence of talent and creativity. Immerse yourself in the compelling works of these artists, where the boundaries of contemporary art are continually redefined.
Biographies Painters
Clément Denis, born in 1991, is a contemporary artist whose work is a rich amalgamation of mythology, literature, poetry, and pivotal events from the 20th and 21st centuries. Living and working in the historic ambiance of Monet's house in Vétheuil, France, Denis is a graduate of the Fine Arts School of Paris and was honored with the BV Collectors Award in 2019. His artistic approach is deeply spiritual and emotional, yet simultaneously physical and visceral. Denis prefers to paint with acrylics, often using his hands to rapidly spread color across large canvases or heavy sheets of paper, creating works that are as much about the act of painting as they are about the finished product. His style and color palette are dynamic, changing with the subject he explores. This adaptability in his art is a testament to his respect and inspiration from both old and contemporary masters. Denis sees himself as a part of the European humanist artistic tradition, a link in a chain that connects the past with the present, and the tangible with the spiritual. Alfredo Romero is a Mexico-based artist best known for his collection "Vestiges of Our Times," a project that explores the dialogue between social memory, ephemeral architecture, and the passage of time. Born in 1974 in Barcelona, Spain, Romero studied Fine Arts, Architecture, and Art History, and has since held numerous conferences and classes around the globe. His work is characterized by a keen interest in translating historical traces into contemporary narratives. With exhibitions in leading museums and galleries worldwide, Romero’s art reflects a constant creative quest that transcends boundaries and resonates with audiences on multiple levels. Stanley Casselman is a New York-based artist whose sumptuously calculated surfaces are motivated by a sense of awe and wonderment in the intangible spiritual elements of our being. The known and speculative forces that create the lattice of our physical reality are what swim in the right side of his brain and the fundamental belief that absolute truth lies only within abstraction, occupies the left. Baroque yet highly calculated, his process towards picture making reveals itself through a spectrum of layers, strokes and gestures exploring a range of emotions in an efficacious search for higher consciousness. Casselman is deeply committed to the notion that color, line, and form have the ability to change cognizance. KACE says that art and fashion, both inherently predicated on aesthetics, share a fascination for the spectacular and sensorial interplay of rich colors, textures, and materials. These overlapping creative sparks are precisely what prompted KACE, a two individual collective, to enter into an intersubjective exchange where each partner could bring his own aesthetic strength to the table. In their union, KACE bridges the gap between art and fashion, and ultimately transcend that gap. They thrust the viewer into a novel experience that defies simple definition. The Jardin de Nuit paintings are a testament to this fated meeting of minds. They feature flowers of various sizes, composed entirely of sequins meticulously sewn to a silkscreen backing—a skill that requires hundreds of hours. In turn, these flowers appear to spring forth from thick swashes of vibrant hues that accrete into diverse bands of pigments—some matte, some glistening, as the pigments are poured through one side of the silkscreen canvas and slowly drip to the other. Chen Yi Ching is a Taiwanese painter currently living and working in Paris. She is best known for her large-scale polyptychs. These multi-paneled screens depict contemporary landscapes garnished with explosions of blossoming flowers. Her other large works also derive their inspiration from nature using traditional Japanese painting techniques and materials. Chen Yi Ching is one of the rare contemporary nihon-ga artists in Europe, who has lived in Japan and studied under renowned Japanese masters. Admitted to the faculty of Fine Art, at the Kyoto City University of Arts in 2002, she was a student of YamazakiTakao, the distinguished master of the Nitten movement. In 2003 she won the prestigious Grand Prize of the Shouhaku Museum with her painting entitled Kabocha (Pumpkin). Her talent and potential were recognized by Uemura Atsushi, one of Japan’s great masters of nihon-ga and she was awarded a studio and the opportunity to study under his guidance following her Masters Degree. In 2004 she had her first solo show at the Nasic Square Gallery in Kyoto. Greatly admiring the work of the late 19th century Impressionists, Chen Yi Ching moved to France in 2004. She continues to develop her own artistic research and pedagogy in Paris where she has an established nihon-ga atelier. She is the author of the first book in French on the practical technique and history of nihon-ga "Découvrir la peinture nihon-ga: Art Traditional Japonais", published in September 2012 by Editions Eyrolles.
Biographies Sculptors
François Weil is renowned for his large, dynamic stone sculptures that evoke timeless mysteries and the raw beauty of nature. His works, reminiscent of ancient menhirs, are crafted from rough stone, left largely unaltered to celebrate its natural state. By refraining from polishing or embellishing the stone, Weil emphasizes its intrinsic qualities and allows the material to speak for itself. His sculptures invite contemplation, reflecting on humanity’s connection to the earth and the enduring questions of existence. With each piece, Weil creates a dialogue between past and present, engaging viewers in the timelessness of his art. Karl Lagasse is an acclaimed artist and sculptor celebrated for his innovative “One Dollar” sculptures, which catapulted him to international fame in 2009. Ranked among the top ten sculptors under 30 by Artprice, Lagasse’s work seamlessly blends contemporary themes with traditional techniques. Growing up in a family of artists in Paris, he began his creative journey at the age of seven, inspired by a meeting with renowned sculptor César Badaccini. While initially exploring graffiti, it was his passion for collages that ultimately defined his artistic path, leading to his first exhibition in 2003 and a solo show in Brussels in 2006. Over the years, Lagasse has gained global recognition, showcasing his work in various prestigious venues. His collaborations with notable brands, such as Maserati for its centenary and the installation at the Cannes Film Festival, highlight his versatility and appeal.
