CARLOS PEÑALVER

Carlos Peñalver

Carlos Peñalver is a London-based artist and architect known for his bold black-and-white line drawings, which range from intricate works on paper to expansive murals and digital animations. His unique process—drawing continuously from memory in a single stroke—blurs the boundaries between architecture, performance, and fine art, creating spontaneous yet highly structured compositions.

BIOGRAPHY

Born in Alicante, Spain, Carlos studied architecture in Alicante, Ljubljana, and Shanghai before fully transitioning into his artistic career. His background in architecture deeply influences his approach, as seen in his ability to navigate spatial relationships and structural balance through fluid, continuous linework.

Over the past two years, Carlos has gained recognition as a mural artist, creating large-scale works for institutions such as the London School of Economics, Montcalm East Hotel, and Citypoint. His practice has also expanded into digital art, animation, and live performance, where he brings his drawings to life in real time, engaging audiences with his dynamic process.

Carlos Peñalver on his process: “‘My drawings are my space to make mistakes. To experiment. Big drawings made of many smaller ideas where all things I think of take place. All forms. Unconstrained. The characters. Desires… Like book margin annotations. Secrets within drawings. Memories.’”

MURALS

Carlos’s large-scale murals transform urban spaces into immersive visual narratives. His continuous, unrepeatable linework captures the essence of movement and connection, often exploring themes of psychology, community, and sustainability.

LIVE PERFORMANCES

Our introduction to Carlos was serendipitous—one of our clients spotted him drawing in Central Park, captivated by the fluidity of his process. This led to our first collaboration: a sidewalk drawing performance outside the gallery, where passersby could engage with his art in real time.

Since then, we have showcased Carlos’s work at Affordable Art Fair NYC (Fall 2024) and CONTEXT Miami 2024, where he performed live, bringing his dynamic, evolving artistry to a global audience.
